his laws, all his decrees are final and cannot be overturned or appealed until egypt's new constitution is put in place. just days ago, people around the world were praising morsi for his pivotal role in negotiating the israel/hamas cease-fire. today, protesters set fire to a symbol of morsi's power, the muslim brotherhood headquarters in alexandria, egypt. morsi supporters clashed with protesters there. morsi is defending his new powers, saying he's not taking sides and the steps he took are meant to achieve political and social stability. reza sayah joins us live in cairo. reza, is morsi's government strong enough, so early in this administration, to withstand this level of protests? >> reporter: well, we're going to find out in the coming weeks, but the political landscape is certainly in his favor. he's got the backing of police and security forces, but make no mistake, these are demonstrators, protesters that are determined and energized. many say one of the outcomes of the 2011 revolution was that many egyptians lost their fear and inhibition to protests and speak up.

in to find out who shot j.r. in 1980. turned out to be his sister-in-law kristen. that success was no big surprise for hagman. he was born into a show biz family. his mom the legendary actress mary martin, but it was a blonde with magic powers that helped propel hagman to star status. he played astronaut tony nelson in the nbc sitcom "i dream of jeannie" for five seasons. after that role came hagman's role of "dallas." years of hard drinking came back to haunt him. he suffered from cirrhosis of the liver and liver cancer. and in july of 1995 he received a transplant that saved his life. this year he starred in season one of the next generation of "dallas" on tnt with some of his original co-stars. he appeared with them on "today" back in june to talk about reprising the role of j.r. ewing. >> yeah, it was strange kind of getting back into the swing of things, but we all fit right into our characters again, so there was nothing to worry about that. >> hagman filmed appearances for the show's second season, set to begin airing in january. larry hagman was 81 years old. he is survived by his

, in other words, that they wouldn't be prosecuted under local laws like afghan laws. he doesn't feel that's going to be as big of a hurdle in afghanistan as it was in iraq. he says president hamid karzai is much stronger in his ability to say, we want u.s. troops here. he says one of the things that's going to be key is the afghans' demand for a lot of money in the later years, say, five, six, seven years out, how much money the afghans will want in return, wolf. >> because the president kept saying during the campaign, as you know, chris, that all u.s. troops would be out of afghanistan by the end of 2014. there's still about 70,000 u.s. troop there is right now. and most of them are presumably going to be there for the next two years or so, costing taxpayers roughly $1 billion a year to keep the troops there. would this be seen as a violation of the president's commitment to the american people to get all troops out of afghanistan by the end of 2014? >> reporter: well, it depends how you read the president's previous statements, wolf. it also depends on how things change in afghanistan.

. it seems to me israel thinks it is entitled, it has a sense of privilege, it can exist above the law, and at the same time that the palestinians are excluded from the protection of the law. you get accountability for israel and you get protection for the palestinians and accordance with the law. and then you will see not just hamas, but you will see a consensus among the palestinians that we would like to live as neighbors. but if israel can't -- not just our rights but our fundamental humanity, the sense of exclusion, the process of holding everything palestinian open and up for grabs, this is something that has to stop. israel has to accept the fact that we have the right to freedom, to dignity, to our own land, to our own resources. we have accepted israel on 78% of palestine and now israel is stealing what is left of the 22% which it occupied in '67. we're saying leave us alone. let the palestinian people go. we have our state and the west bank including jerusalem and gaza, and we will live as good neighbors. >> obviously complex negotiations for all of that to occur. hanan ashra

. if that happens, that's an ethics violation and quite possibly a violation of criminal law as well. >> want to turn to another case potentially affecting a whole lot of people in the workplace. the supreme court on monday is expected to determine workplace harassment rules, and it seems to hinge really on the definition of just this one word, supervisor. what is this all about? >> you know, this is surprisingly important. it sounds like some boring lawyer thing, you know, what's a supervisor, but here's how it plays out. if you are discriminated against or sexually harassed by a supervisor, the employer is automatically responsible. you've got a case, and you have a big pocket because it's going to be the company that you can sue. if the harassment though comes from a fellow worker, not a supervisor, you have a much harder lawsuit. you have to prove the employer knew about it and he was negligent in not curing the condition. now, how that plays out for ordinary people is, for instance, let's say at the office christmas party, which is coming up, somebody gets drunk and sexually harasses you

that he makes or any laws that he imposes until a new parliament is formed. reza sayah is in cairo this morning. let's start with mohamed morsi, please. >> yeah, good morning, soledad. a few thousand protesters still here in south tahrir squares, especially those who camped out over the past several days, still seeing some clashes. most of them triggered by what seem to be teenagers and twenty somethings out here looking for trouble. we also saw our first fatality of the protest last night on sunday in a northern city where a 15-year-old member of the muslim brotherhood youth movement was clubbed to death. at this point the brotherhood doesn't seem to be using that fatality as a rallying cry to shore up support. but at the same time, it doesn't seem to be any indication that this conflict is coming to an end any time soon. the leaders of the opposition faction continue to demand mr. morsi to rescind his decrees. we just spoke to one of his senior advisers a couple of hours ago. he wants dialogue with the leading opposition factions. he didn't say anything about these decrees today.
